Licorice DGL
Licorice has been used in Asian countries such as China and
India for gastrointestinal health and adrenal support. Pure Liquid
Licorice DGL is a mild laxative which soothes and tones the mucous
membranes and relieves muscle spasms. Pure Liquid Licorice DGL is rich
in flavonoids. Research is being conducted on Licorice as an antioxidant

Licorice protects the mucous membranes lining the digestive
tract by increasing production of mucin, a substance that protects
against stomach acid and other harmful substances. Pure Liquid Licorice
DGL is the root extract in its deglycyrrhizinated form (DGL). This means
it has the glycyrrhizic acid removed. Glycyrrhizic acid is the portion
of licorice root associated with increasing blood pressure and water
retention in some persons. Pure Liquid Licorice DGL will not cause these
side effects. The mucous membrane-healing part of the root, however,
remains in DGL form of licorice extract. One dropper 15 minutes before
meals may aid in protecting the stomach from acids that irritate the
stomach's lining. It is important to take Licorice this way because it
has been found that mixing the licorice with saliva increase its
effectiveness for producing mucin.*
