Cinco De Mayo Margaritas

These margaritas are exactly what you need on Cinco De Mayo (or any day of the week)! Nutritionist Alix Turoff created all of these delicious margaritas to be guilt free. Not only are they sugar free but each margarita is only around 160 calories!

Spicy Grapefruit Margarita

Ingredients:

  • For spicy salt: 1/2 tablespoon kosher salt, ½ tablespoon chili powder
  • Ice
  • 4 fl oz Tequila
  • 3 fl oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 2 fl oz Freshly Squeezed Grapefruit Juice
  • 1 Jalapeno Pepper, Cut into thin slices
  • ½ tsp NuStevia Simple Syrup
  • 2 fl oz Seltzer
  • Optional Garnish: lime wedges, jalapeño slices
Instructions: 
  • To make your salt, combine kosher salt and chili powder in a small bowl (choose a bowl that will fit the rim of your glass)
  • To salt the rim of your glass, take a lime wedge and coat the rim. Dip in spicy salt and rotate glass until coated.
  • Fill your glass with ice and set aside.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with additional ice and add tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, jalapeno and simple syrup.
  • Close shaker and shake for ~30 seconds. Strain into rimmed glass with ice.
  • Top with seltzer
  • Garnish with lime wedges and jalapeño slices

Strawberry Basil Margarita

Ingredients: 

  • ½ tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup strawberries, fresh
  • 5 basil leaves
  • 1 tsp NuStevia Simple Syrup
  • 2 fl oz Tequila
  • 2.5 fl oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 2 fl oz Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
  • Optional Garnish: Fresh strawberry or lime wedge.

Instructions:

  • Put kosher salt in a small bowl (choose a bowl that will fit the rim of your glass
  • To salt the rim of your glass, take a lime wedge and coat the rim. Dip in salt mixture and rotate glass until coated.
  • Fill your glass with ice and set aside
  • Remove the stems from your strawberries and place in a blender with fresh basil leaves and simple syrup. Pulse the blender until you have a liquid with small bits of strawberries.
  • Add strawberry mixture to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Add tequila, lime juice and triplsec.
  • Close shaker and shake for ~30 seconds. Strain into rimmed glass with ice.
  • Garnish with a fresh strawberry and/or lime wedge

Ginger Margarita

Ingredients
  • For salt: ½ tbsp kosher salt, ¼ tsp freshly grated ginger, lime wedge
  • Ice
  • 4 fl oz Tequila
  • 3 fl oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 2 fl oz Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
  • 1 tsp NuStevia Ginger Syrup 
  • 1 fl oz seltzer
  • Optional Garnish: Lime and/or candied ginger

Instructions: 

  • To make your salt, combine kosher salt and freshly grated ginger in a small bowl (choose a bowl that will fit the rim of your glass)
  • To salt the rim of your glass, take a lime wedge and coat the rim. Dip in salt mixture and rotate glass until coated.
  • Fill your glass with ice and set aside.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with additional ice and add tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and ginger syrup.
  • Close shaker and shake for ~30 seconds. Strain into rimmed glass with ice.
  • Top with seltzer
  • Garnish with lime wedges and/or candied ginger
